Logo Ideas
These are a few of my logo ideas, that I might use for my music magazine, the name of my magazine is 'Inferno' I choose this name ,because the word inferno means a place like hell or suggesting hell, which relates to the genre of Rock, highlighting the darker side of the genre. The first logo design consists of the word 'Inferno' containing letters with a fiery font, relating bad to the meaning of inferno being a place of hell which usually connotates fire.
My next logo idea contains the colours red and white, white has connotations of purity and innocence, whereas red has connotations of danger and blood, which is the complete opposite, giving it a juxtaposition of the opposite characteristics, it's non-conventional, showing that anyone whether they are heavy rockers, or they just enjoy reading they may enjoy this magazine.
Another logo I have created contains the colours blue red and white, which helps it to stand out more, so it can be seen from a distance, the font makes it more appealing to my target audience, which is boys and girls between the ages 13-18, because the colours are bright and interesting and it seems quite fun.
Another logo idea I created contains the colours light and black with connotations of purity and light for white and death and dark for black, they are opposites, which could relate to the audience, that different people will like my magazine.
My next logo idea uses an inverted embossed effect, so it seems that the writing is jumping out to the audience, so it will get the audience's attention, it uses the colour grey, so it won't stand out too much on the front cover, as the cover star will be the main attraction.
My final logo combines features from the existing magazines Kerrang! and NME it uses the colour red to stand out, as it's quite bold and eye catching for the reader, it is very similar to the Kerrang! logo as their is a line cutting through the middle of each letter vertically, emphasising loud music being played and shattering the logo.
Fonts to be used
I used this font for my chosen logo, because being a rock/pop genre I used aspects from existing music magazines and made my own suitable logo.
Gills Sans Ultra Bold- I think this font could be good inside my magazine, because it's bold and easy to read, being bold and black relates to the Rock genre as black connotates darkness and death.
Hobo Std- I think this font would also work well inside my magazine, it's not too heavy or hard to read, the writing is quite funky, relating to the pop genre.

Language to be used
On the front cover of my magazine and inside my magazine I want to use language that grabs the attention of my audience, and draws them in some good examples of this, would be using words such as 'EXCLUSIVE', 'FREE', 'BEST' and 'REVEALED' these are only a few words that would work well for my magazine, firstly by using them on the front cover it will automatically get the audience's attention, by offering something 'FREE' most people feel the urge to spend their money even if it's just for the free gift. Also the words 'EXCLUSIVE' and 'REVEALED' suggest they will not get this information anywhere else, and most people will want to find out what the fuss is all about, by buying the magazine, also the word 'BEST' is used a lot in magazines, because people don't want to know about who came last in the race, they want to know who won, by using the word 'BEST' the audience is drawn in to believe they will find out who the best singer is or the best album is, and will find it interesting as they may not have heard of the band or singer and may not know what they are missing out on.
Front Cover Layout
This is my front cover layout for my magazine, where I will include the masthead, which will be in the top left hand corner on a tilt, I choose for it to be tilted, because most magazines, have their masthead upright, but I want my magazine to be different, unlike any other magazine. There is also a triangle in the top left hand corner this will include plug, that will be inside the magazine. The cover star will be on the right hand side of the magazine, with the cover line next to it on the right hand side, these are the main features that I want to stand out. There is a circle in the bottom left hand corner, which will contain more plugging of things that will be found in the magazine. Lastly the black square in the bottom right hand corner will be where the bar code will be.
Contents Page Layout
This is my contents page layout, where it has some similar features to the front cover layout, because I want my magazine to follow a pattern, so it seems like it all fits together perfectly, the triangle on the top left hand corner will contain more plugging of the features within the magazine, the masthead will be in the tilted box below the triangle, The square boxes on the right hand side will contain images of the bands/singers that will be inside the magazine, with information on the contents on the left hand side. lastly the rectangular box in the bottom left hand corner will contain puff, boosting the status of the magazine. The left side third. help me decide how to layout both my front cover and contents page because the first thing the audience will see is the masthead, and then they will see the images, showing the audience straight away, the name of the magazine and what they will find inside.
Double Page Spread Layout
This is my double page spread layout, Similar to my contents page it include four images on the side, as my pages need to relate to each other, Also on this page I decided to include some plug at the bottom as a lot of magazine, will have a small banner at the bottom to show what is on other pages within the magazine, this is so each page will keep the reader drawn in, there will be text on the left hand side of the images as I want the Images and the masthead to be the first thing the audience will see to catch their eye, the masthead is right at the top of the page and it will be very large, so it will stand out from the rest of the article, it is spread across both pages.
Photos to be used in my magazine.
I choose this image to be apart of my magazine as it's a medium shot of the performer, the shot is also tilted slightly to make the performer seem like hes looking down above the crowd.
I thought this photo would be good for the front cover as it's a live shot of the performer, making the audience feel automatically involved, also by having the electric guitar as the main part of the picture, it highlights the Rock aspect of the genres I have chosen.
I thought this image would be good for my magazine, because it is a low angled shot, which when viewed by the audience they will feel apart of the crowd, making them more likely to buy it.
I was able to crop this image, and will use it in my contents page, As it will relate to the pop side of my genre, it is a slightly low angle shot, which makes the audience feel they are part of the crowd.
This could be a good image for my front page as it is a live shot of the band in a concert, I could edit it using photoshop by enhancing the colours more and cropping it.
This image could be good for my double page spread, as it is a medium shot of the band, I could fade it out, and use in the background behind my article.
This image may be good for my double page spread as it is a low angle live shot of the whole band, which I could easily place my article over it, which I feel would work well.
Front cover mocks
My first front cover, I created by following my plan, I was mostly happy with the fonts of the writing as they were similar to a lot of magazines out there, making it look more professional, however, I feel that there is too much white space in the background, which dominates the magazine, which is why I don't want to use this front cover.
My second front cover also follows my plan, I changed the background colour to black and some of the fonts, however I feel that the picture needs to be more dominant of the page and the background colour looks too over powering, which is why I decided not to use this front cover and to change the image for my final front cover.
